The “Sparkasse” a German bank and the state are now – in times of Corona - abandoning gastronomy and

If the small businesses and hotels have expected help in the current situation, this hope has received a bad damper. Deichmann, H&M, Adidas and other companies now openly show what they think of responsibility towards the society from which they tremendously benefit. The Sparkasse is now talking about it openly.

Helmut Schleweis, President of the German Sparkasse and Giro Association said in an interview today with the title:

“Hospitality hardly creditworthy? / Sparkassen-President: KfW program will not help many companies (Handelsblatt March 31, 2020).

“The president of the Sparkasse is critical of lending to the hospitality industry. “In the catering, hotel, event management and catering sectors as well as in the travel, transport, logistics, tourism and aviation sectors, many companies make a living from their on-going sales, and the margins are relatively low. Loans under the KfW program could “only be given to companies that are expected to be able to repay the loan within five years.

(Note: he does not see the gastronomy or small family hotels there).

Stefan Bender, Head of Corporate Bank Germany at Deutsche Bank. "And it is also clear that if the customer had massive problems in continuing to do business before the Corona crisis, he might not get a promotional loan."

(Handelsblatt March 31, 2020).

Sad that the German state does not intervene because it is known that thousands of court cases against the Sparkasse and other banks are underway because - as reported even in the ARD ( Note: German 1st TV station) - they have cheated on theirr customers for decades with loans but also with the normal current accounts.

“Sparkassen und Volksbanken: ARD documentary reveals how customers are ripped off with tricks”

Entrepreneur Gerhard Stelter from Verden in Lower Saxony had recalculations carried out. In ten years, all three house banks have received one million euros in interest illegal and too much. (and only in his company!) ”

Another contribution from the NDR in Hallo Niedersachsen:

“Do Sparkassen rip off customers on Giro accounts?

by Holger Bock

“The result of an expert investigation: Sparkasse Verden has given its customer Mr. Grothenn inflicted damage of more than 300,000 euros over the years. The banking experts and professor Hans-Peter Schwintowski estimate that customers suffer damage of several billion euros a year as a result of banks' computer tricks. This is systematically ruining commercial small businesses.”

At a time like this when not only the employees in the catering trade have to accept short-time work and cuts, family businesses and small businesses are facing bankruptcy and the millions of temporary helpers who have survived thanks to the small jobs are not even considered it shows the real face of banks and governments.

We won't give up but maybe it would be better to silently continue cheating us and not to give such interviews.
