Lufthansa calls it progress! Cuts more on Meals for guests.

One meal is enough!

One warm meal instead of two for Lufthansa guest flying to the US is a new regulation that Lufthansa calls “progress” (according to Spiegel online 6.11.2019.)

It simply means economy class guest get even less service. Looking at the meals that Lufthansa serves in economy it might be even better for the guest at the end. If it is that what they mean with progress we don’t know.

The Board gets more bonus?

Now that would be progress – for the board!

Bonus for the Board was as reported 2016 already 10.4 Million Euro. We have 2019 so lets calculate. The salary of the big Chef was 3.9 Million Euro. Take that times 3x since 2016 and devide that by the food cost of one Lufthansa meal (5 Euro according to Lufthansa – but looks more like 2 Euro) and you have the money for 8 Million meals. But what would the board eat? Lets be fair!

Others tried better and worse

British Airways cut all meals for long distance flights at one point but had to change that back. Even for British Airways that was too much – and they get away with a lot! Cathay Pacific – the Hong Kong Airline that is know for very good service – even let Star Chefs create the menu for economy class. And their board gets also a bonus. How do they manage that? A quiz question for the next Lufthansa board meeting.

We will keep an eye on Airline Catering and eat before and after the flight!
